WEDDINGS
WEDDINGS
Are you interested in getting married at IUCC? Blessings on your engagement! Marriage is a gift, and a life-long journey of discovery.
Our beautiful, historic sanctuary dates back to 1852, and can hold approximately 168 people. Our pastor officiates at all weddings held in our sanctuary. She primarily uses a Christian wedding liturgy, but is sensitive to diverse family backgrounds, and is open to creative approaches to your wedding.
Except in extraordinary circumstances, weddings will not be scheduled for Holy Week, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or a Sunday. The time of day may depend on the preference of the couple, the availability of the church building, and the availability of church staff.
The use of our sanctuary and pastoral services are available at a reduced price to members because of their generosity and stewardship over time. Thus, member rates are available to couples who have been active participants in the life of the church for more than one year. The sanctuary use fee, made to Immanuel UCC is due at time of contract, and is non-refundable. All other payments are made to the individual staff member, and are due at the time of rehearsal.
Please contact us at least 12 weeks before your ceremony to receive a copy of our full policies and a contract, and to set meeting dates to craft your individual service.
BAPTISMS
A person is made part of the body of Christ through the sacrament of baptism. At IUCC, people are baptized either as children or adults. Baptism with water and the Holy Spirit is the mark of their acceptance into the care of Christ’s church, the sign and seal of their participation in God’s forgiveness, and the beginning of their new growth into full Christian faith and life.
When an infant or young child is baptized, one or both parents and/or one or more sponsors promise to assume certain responsibilities for the Christian nurture of the baptized child. Those who are baptized at an early age are given an opportunity in their youth to make a personal profession of faith through confirmation.
In almost all cases, baptisms at IUCC are performed as a part of our worship life on Sunday morning. Those who are considering the sacrament of Baptism for themselves, or for a child, are invited to contact the church office and arrange an appointment to meet with the pastor.
