ABOUT IMMANUEL UCC

FORWARD THROUGH THE AGES

IUCC was founded in 1852 when W.G. Hubbard donated five acres of land "For the sole and exclusive use of erecting a house thereon for religious worship and a burying ground."  A group of 13 farmers organized and chose the name. “Deutsche Vereingigte, Evangelische Lutherische Immanuael’s Germeinde”  or: United Evangelical Lutheran Immanuel Congregation. In 1959 the members voted to shorten the name to Immanuel United Church of Christ.

Although the church started out as Evangelical, over time the congregation evolved and became a part of the United Church of Christ.

The first building was completed in 1853, however, a new building was dedicated on February 3, 1868 and minus a few changes over the years, is the same building we worship in today.

Fast forward to the 1990's and Immanuel UCC voted to become the first Open and Affirming church in Fox Valley, opening our doors to all who would like to experience God's extravagant and indescriminating love regardless of their Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity.
